PR & Media Relations
Good public relations is more than publicity.  Refining a message and crafting a compelling story make all the difference.  The secret is to think more about what someone else will hear than what you want to say.

Jennifer Balink has worked in the field of public, media, community and government relations since 1990, predominantly in the fields of telecommunications and community service.  Here are some sample client projects.

"First Years Last a Lifetime"
For the First Years Institute, a non-profit established to raise community awareness of the importance of early childhood, Jennifer and her team developed the campaign "First Years Last a Lifetime," which was supported by paid media, grassroots community building, extensive earned media and targeted communications to policymakers.  Using annual research surveys to test the campaign's effectiveness, the team was successful in raising public awareness, affecting public policy and building corporate financial support.

Uptown Memphis
Working in partnership with Brisco Communications, Jennifer developed the campaign to rebrand a pair of former public housing complexes into Uptown Memphis, a HOPE VI funded public-private that successfully brought mixed-income residential development to one of the most distressed areas of Memphis.  Using grassroots outreach in neighborhoods and strategic communications through corporate partners, the campaign team developed and launched a branding message that supported meeting or exceeding sales and leasing goals to get residents into the re-built community.
